Iran's chief of staff has outlined a five-point plan aimed at achieving lasting security in the region. The plan calls for an immediate end to hostilities on all fronts, including conflicts in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. Iran is also seeking a complete lifting of economic sanctions and the unfreezing of its frozen assets and war reparations.

The plan's conditions also include recognition by other countries of Iran's sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, as well as a guarantee against future aggression under a regional security framework for West Asia. This comes amid ongoing tensions between Iran and the US, following recent strikes on Qeshm Island in Iran.

Qatar has been actively mediating efforts to ease tensions between Tehran and Washington, with a delegation meeting Iranian officials in Tehran on Monday. The Qatari team returned to Doha later that evening, and both sides are now reviewing Qatar's proposal for a deal paving the way for future negotiations.

The talks come as concerns grow about escalating violence following the US midterm elections on Tuesday. Iran has been subjected to ongoing pressure from its adversaries, with the recent strikes on Qeshm Island adding to existing tensions in the region.

Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Majed al-Ansari reported that a Qatari delegation held a meeting with Iranian officials for over three hours before returning to Doha. The two sides are now exchanging proposals in real-time, as Qatar steps up its mediation efforts to find a resolution to the conflict.

Qatar's mediation efforts in the ongoing conflict are continuing with a focus on finding a resolution.

Al-Ansari emphasized that negotiations would not be possible without some hope for progress, but warned that any escalation in the situation could have an impact on these talks.

Despite concerns about potential military action, mediators remain committed to finding a solution and are working to prevent another round of fighting.

A Qatari delegation visited Iran on Friday in response to a letter from US Vice President JD Vance, with an Iranian delegation traveling to Qatar the following day.

Tensions between Iran and the US remain high following a recent incident on Qeshm Island.

According to reports from the region, limited strikes were carried out by the US military on Monday, targeting areas where Iranian forces had attempted to target a US aircraft with surface-to-air missiles.

The strikes resulted in five explosions on the island, with additional blasts reported in Bandar Lengeh. This development comes after President Donald Trump stated last month that the US would not engage in combat with Iran before the midterm elections.

Iran's lead negotiator, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has emphasized that the responsibility lies with the US to prevent further escalation of tensions and potential war.

Iran has updated its target bank to include US military bases and infrastructure in Europe, according to a report by Tehran's Hamshahri newspaper. This move comes as tensions between Iran and the US remain high, despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Zeidon Alkinani, director of the Arab Perceptions Institute, notes that diplomacy and force are being pursued simultaneously, with the diplomatic channel remaining open since March but without significant progress. Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has clarified that Iran is not waiting for the outcome of US midterm elections to shape its policies.
