The final figure skating medals of the 2026 Winter Olympics will be awarded this afternoon following the women’s free skate.

The top 24 figure skaters from the women’s short program will move onto today’s free skate. Each routine is four minutes long and must include up to seven jumps including one axel, up to three spins, one step sequence and one choreograhpic sequence.

The short program garnered mixed results for the “Blade Angels,” a.k.a. the US women’s figure skating team. Current US champion Amber Glenn landed a triple axel, but struggled after failing to execute a triple loop, instead landing a double and getting zero points for the element. She is in 13th at the end of the short program, while Isabeau Levito is currently in eighth.

Alysa Liu is sitting in third, though, putting her in an excellent position to potentially become the first women’s singles medalist for the USA since Sasha Cohen won silver in 2006. Ami Nakai and Kaori Sakamoto (who will skate the last Olympics program of her career today), both of Japan, are above Liu in the standings right now.
