Lionsgate has appointed a new leader for its television division, promoting Scott Herbst to president of the Lionsgate Television Group.

Herbst, who has been serving as executive vice president and head of development, will now oversee the creative operations across multiple areas, including current programming, casting, music, and scripted digital series. This move comes as part of a broader restructuring effort within the TV group following the departure of Sandra Stern, vice chairman of the Lionsgate TV Group.

Stern, who had been with the studio for 23 years, stepped down from her post in March 2026, but continues to work with the company as a long-term consultant. Herbst will now lead the team that includes Lee Hollin, head of current programming, and Marcello Bellisario, head of casting.

Herbst has been at Lionsgate since 2018 and has worked closely with Kevin Beggs, chair and chief creative officer of the Lionsgate Television Group, who made the announcement about Herbst's promotion. As part of this restructuring effort, Hollin and Bellisario have also signed new long-term deals with the studio.

In a statement, Herbst expressed his pride in the team's accomplishments and gratitude to Beggs for placing trust in him to lead the television group forward.

Lionsgate's television group has been experiencing significant success in recent times, with an impressive 12 out of its 13 current scripted series receiving renewal notices. This includes several notable titles such as Seth Rogen's Apple TV show "The Studio" and the Netflix series "The Hunting Wives, which received an early third-season renewal ahead of its second-season premiere.

Beggs has praised Herbst for his exceptional leadership skills, creative instincts, and ability to identify unique material. He is also credited with helping to develop shows that break through the clutter and resonate with modern audiences. As a result, Beggs believes that Herbst is well-positioned to lead the television group to new heights of success.

In addition to the renewed series, Lionsgate has also seen success with several spinoffs across its scripted slate. This includes shows such as Ghosts" for CBS, "The Rookie" and "The Rookie: Feds for ABC and Hulu, as well as the Emmy-nominated Yellowjackets for Showtime.

Lionsgate's Starz platform has also seen significant growth, with renewals for P-Valley and the first four Power Universe series. This includes upcoming titles such as Power: Origins" and "Power: Legacy, which are expected to be fan favorites.

Hollin's tenure at Lionsgate has seen him oversee a range of notable television projects, including The Recruit" and "Dear White People, both commissioned for Netflix. He also played a key role in developing content for Apple TV, with Mythic Quest" and "Acapulco among his credits.

Hollin joined the company in 2018 and was promoted to executive vice president of television and head of current programming just a year later. Bellisario, who arrived at Lionsgate in 2014, has been responsible for TV casting on various shows, including The Hunting Wives", "Ghosts", and "Love and Death".
