Even after all he has been through, first as designated savior in Chicago, then watching Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh, then hearing the boobirds and Aaron Glenn benching him for Tyrod Taylor, Justin Fields understands that he has plenty to be thankful for … even now.

“When you realize that life is bigger than football, that I’m still blessed, that if you tell me I’m in this position 10, 15 years ago, I’m saying yes in a heartbeat,” Fields told The Post in his first remarks since his benching. “So when you really take a step back and look at the totality of life and like how far I’ve come …

“I look back at old pictures when I’m eight years old and I’m in the team photo and I just say like ‘Look, God chose me to be in this position,’ so it’s like I’m destined to be here, I’m supposed to be here for a reason. Wherever that reason may be, we might never know, so it’s like you just gotta make the best of every opportunity and look at it from a positive side.

“I’m quote-unquote not really in a bad position — of course I would want to be in a different position, but there’s millions of people out in the world who would love to be in this position, who would love to be playing a sport for money, who would love to be getting this amount of money for this situation, so you gotta just look at life in the totality of things. … If I get sick or have a chronic sickness, I’m not worried about none of this ’cause my sickness and my health is the biggest thing at that point, so I think you just have to look at the little things in life and the things that we’re grateful for.”
