Veteran defensive tackle Harrison Phillips is new to the Jets, but he also has experienced being part of a team to begin a season poorly, as they have with an 0-3 mark heading into Monday night’s game against the also-winless Dolphins.

Two years ago, Phillips and the Vikings opened with three straight losses, but then won six of their next seven to get back in the race at 6-4 — albeit before collapsing down the stretch by dropping six of seven, including their final four games of the year.

During his rookie season in 2018 — also Josh Allen’s first in Buffalo — the Bills lost their first two games and three of their first four on their way to a 6-10 mark.

While it’s rare for any team to come back and reach the playoffs after starting 0-3 — with only six instances since the 1970 merger — first-year head coach Aaron Glenn and the Jets are drawing positives out of those experiences despite an NFL-high 14 straight seasons without a trip to the playoffs.
