A press release stated that the “Extra Innings addition isn’t connected to a specific album, but will ‘build on the momentum’ of the other two shows.”
Therefore, there is no word yet on whether or not classics like “99 Problems,” “Encore,” “Excuse Me Miss,” “Hard Knock Life” or NYC anthem “Empire State of Mind,” end up making the set list for any of the three nights.
Ahead of this trifecta of Big Apple concerts, Hov has been tapped to headline The Roots’ 2026 Roots Picnic Festival at Philadelphia’s Belmont Plateau on Saturday, May 30.
He’ll be joined by fellow headliners Erykah Badu, De La Soul, Brandy, T.I. and, of course, The Roots.
These four performances will be the 56-year-old New York native’s first since he took the stage with his wife Beyoncé at her ‘Cowboy Carter Tour’ concert in Paris last June. The two delivered hits “Crazy In Love,” “N—-s in Paris” and “Drunk in Love” in their first time in concert together in six years.
According to Triangle Hip-Hop Network “the chemistry was fire, the energy was insane, and the crowd? Word-for-word on every bar.”
In regards to his history with Yankee Stadium, the “December 4th” rapper has played the 46,537-seat venue twice before.
16 years ago, he rocked the ballpark with Eminem. Then, just three years later, Mr. Knowles swooped in a second time and rocked Aaron Judge’s home with Justin Timberlake on the twosome’s ‘Legends of Summer Tour.’

In addition to dishing on the Kendrick/Drake dispute in an interview with GQ, Carter also addressed the 2024 civil lawsuit charging him with allegedly sexually assaulting a woman decades ago who chose to remain anonymous.
GQ noted that “the accuser voluntarily dismissed the suit with prejudice just months after it was filed.”
About the accusation, JAŸ-Z told GQ “That whole [lawsuit thing], that s— took a lot out of me. I was angry. I haven’t been that angry in a long time, uncontrollable anger. You don’t put that on someone—that’s a thing that you better be super sure. It used to be like that. You had to be super sure before you put those kind of things on a person. Especially a person like me. Even when we were doing the worst things, we had those kind of rules. There was a line: no women, no kids. You hear those sayings, but those are the things that I took from the street. We lived and died by that. So it’s strict for me, like it meant a lot to me.”
He then added “I took that really hard. I knew that we were going to walk through that because, first of all, it’s not true. And the truth, at the end of the day, still reigns supreme.”
