Breece Hall is still only 25 years old. But this is Year 5 with the Jets for the running back and he’s seen some things in his time in Florham Park.

As the Jets open training camp, Hall said he feels a difference this year.

“I feel like this is a year of us not only having guys with names but also having a team aspect with organizational stability,” Hall said Tuesday as veterans reported for camp. “This year feels very, very stable. It feels like we have our people. It’s definitely been a positive.”

The Jets will take the field on Wednesday morning for their first practice without much fanfare. There are no “Hard Knocks” cameras this year. There is no national spotlight on Aaron Rodgers. There is not even the buzz of Aaron Glenn in his first season that existed last year. This is about as quiet a camp the Jets have had in nearly 10 years.

For Hall, who signed an extension with the team this offseason, that is a welcome change.

“I just feel like in the past we’ve had a lot of craziness and turmoil, a lot of switchover, turnover,” Hall said. “I just feel like now I’m with the guys we’ve brought in, the coaches we have, with the change of the staff and upstairs and through our coaching staff, I feel like there’s a lot more organizational stability, which I feel like helps the players because I feel like the players are only going to be as good as the organization is. You can’t have good players and not have a stable organization and still have a good team.”

The Jets enter 2026 with modest expectations from outsiders. The team’s win total is 5 ½ in Las Vegas. There is more talk about what the team might do in the 2027 NFL Draft than whether they can make the playoffs this season.

A few years ago, Rodgers was saying the Jets were one of the handful of teams in the NFL that could win the Super Bowl. We all know how that worked out. The Jets enter this season with the 15-year playoff drought hanging over their heads.

The team’s current quarterback, Geno Smith, was not ready to predict Lombardi Trophies on Tuesday but said this team is ready to build something in camp.

“I have high expectations for the team,” Smith said. “I believe we have not only the right guys in the locker room, but the coaching staff, front office, and there’s a lot of things to be positive about as a Jets fan and as a player and as a part of the organization. I expect us to go out there every single day and be who we are, which is a team full of hard-working men, guys who love the game, and a lot of talent on this team as well. I look forward to building with these guys, I look forward to being a part of this team and seeing where we can take it.”

Smith’s return to the Jets will be one of the storylines of camp. On the other side of the ball, linebacker Demario Davis is back for a third stint.

Those two were part of an offseason plan by Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey to turn over a roster that went 3-14 last year.

“I know exactly what our goals are,” Davis said. “I know exactly what the vision is. That’s not necessarily to be shared right now, but there’s work that has to be done to get there. We have a ton of work to do to get where our vision is, where our goals are. All I would ask is that you guys measure us based on our work, where were we and then where are we when you see us.”
