Cool kids just might have the time for this.

Starting in late September, Smashing Pumpkins embark on their fall 2026 ‘Rats in a Cage Tour’ that will send Billy Corgan and co. to arenas all over the U.S. and Canada.

That includes a stop at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Sunday, Oct. 4.

The ’90s icons shared on Instagram that every “one-of-a-kind show” will feature “two distinct sets celebrating the 30th anniversary of ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’ plus nearly four decades of hits and dark treasures.”

Corgan elaborated in a statement, adding “set one of the ‘Rats In A Cage’ tour [will] exclusively [feature] ‘Mellon Collie’ songs in a highly theatrical setting, [while] set two [will draw] from the rest of our canon so that there’s a decent amount of variance as to what songs we’ll play from night to night: from our first in ‘Gish’ to our last in ‘Aghori Mhori Mei.’”

In addition to the tour, the “1979” rockers will also headline at this year’s Lollapalooza in Chicago on July 31. Other acts with similar sensibilities on this year’s bill include The XX, Geese, Turnstile, The Neighbourhood and Sombr, whom Corgan performed with at this year’s Coachella.

Prior to the tour announcement, Smashing Pumpkins delivered a brief 12-song set at Los Angeles’ American Legion Post 43 where they observed the death of Corgan’s persona “Zero.”

According to KTLA, the event “drew around 300 people, with speeches and a faux eulogy delivered by Corgan’s wife, Chloe Mendel, around a chrome casket complete with the famous star symbol tied to the band. Howie Mandel surprised the crowd with a brief speech as well.”

Tickets officially go on sale to the general public on Thursday, May 21 at 10 am local time through Ticketmaster but are available now on trusted secondary market sites like SeatGeek.

We only recommend sites with a 100% buyer guarantee, so you know your transaction is safe and your tickets will arrive on time.

Smashing Pumpkins new music

On May 15, Smashing Pumpkins dropped “Zodeon at Crystal Hall,” an album made up of bonus tracks from their 2022-23 “Atum: A Rock Opera in Three Acts” record.

The gentle offering is made up of shimmering songs that sound like they came from the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, adding to the “dusty, lost gems that were stored away in an attic just waiting to be re-discovered” feel of “ZaCH.”

In the event you haven’t given the 12-track record a spin, we suggest checking out the summery, flowery “Simmatar,” upbeat Beatles-esque “Saffron,” slowed-down, feel-bad anthem “Huzzah!,” strained, vulnerable “Automaton” and triumphant, childlike “Burr” (which may be a nod to Corgan’s stand-up doppleganger).

Our favorite of all though has to be the light as air “Necromance,” which marries plinking melodic indie with Corgan’s unmistakable voice. Around the minute mark, the song slows down and for ten seconds you’ll feel like you’re floating. It’s magical.

To hear for yourself, you can find “Zodeon at Crystal Hall” here.
