Vaught-Hemingway Stadium will be rocking on Saturday afternoon as No. 4 LSU (4-0) takes on No. 13 Ole Miss (4-0) in a battle of unbeaten SEC contenders.

The path to this point has been tricky for both sides, with each team vanquishing a couple of tough opponents to get to 4-0.

Ole Miss is the slight favorite, but this one is essentially a coin flip according to the bookies.

LSU vs. Ole Miss odds, prediction

It’s been quite the start to 2025 for Ole Miss.

The Rebels looked buoyant after Week 1 thanks to the play of quarterback Austin Simmons.

The electric signal-caller tore up Georgia State, settling concerns about how the Rebels would move on from Jaxson Dart. Then, Simmons got hurt.

The injury to Simmons, which came in a seven-point win over Kentucky, cooled the hype around Oxford, but then things took another twist.

Trinidad Chambliss took over the starting gig with Simmons sidelined and has looked talismanic.

The former Ferris State Bulldog has completed 67.7% of his passes for 719 yards and four touchdowns, and he’s chipped in two more scores and 195 yards on the ground.

Simmons is still banged up, so it will be Chambliss under center on Saturday against the Tigers.

Chambliss and Ole Miss want to get things moving quickly, while LSU will do everything in its power to slow things down.

That goes for when the Bayou Bengals have the ball too.

LSU’s quarterback, Garrett Nussmeier, remains a Heisman hopeful and could be a top-five pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, but he’s not the type to sling the ball all over the field and electrify a stadium.

Nussmeier and LSU want to be in control, play at their pace, and keep the opposition’s defense on the field.

The problem is that if things get away from Nussmeier and the Tigers, it’s easy to see them struggling to keep up.

Betting on College Football?

On the other hand, if LSU races out to a lead, Ole Miss has the quick-strike offense needed to get back in the game.

With an explosive offense and a defense that has been terrific to start the season, Ole Miss can get this battle on their terms and keep it there.

The Play: Ole Miss (-120, FanDuel)
