Mike Kaka’s head coaching audition begins now.

The Giants offensive coordinator and assistant head coach was named the interim head coach of the team after Brian Daboll was fired on Monday following its latest fourth-quarter collapse and falling to a 2-8 record.

Kafka, a candidate for most of the coaching openings around the league over the last few offseasons, is a former NFL quarterback who has played a key role in Jaxson Dart’s early success with Big Blue.

In his fourth season with the Giants, the 38-year-old resumed offensive play-calling duties this season after Daboll took them over in 2024. Kafka called plays in 2022 and 2023, as well.

Before coming to the Giants, he won Super Bowl 2020 as the Chiefs’ passing game coordinator, having mentoring Patrick Mahomes in the early years of his career.

This past offseason, he was a finalist for the Saints’ heading coaching vacancy that went to Kellen Moore. He’s also been among those considered for jobs with the Colts, Texans, Cardinals, Panthers, Seahawks and Titans in recent years.
