Rick Pitino considered adding a midseason point guard to St. John’s roster by dipping into the G-League or overseas, but opted against it.

There were three players the Hall of Fame coach looked into (he declined to name them), but Pitino believes he has seen enough from Ian Jackson and Dylan Darling of late that it wouldn’t have been the right decision.

“We had some G-League opportunities we looked at, but I feel that it would hurt our chemistry,” Pitino told The Post on Friday as St. John’s prepared to host Providence on Saturday. “I’ve put a lot of work into making Ian a point guard, a lot of work into making Dylan Darling better. In the end, I made a decision that we’re going to stick with the development of Ian and the development of Dylan. They’ve put in a lot of work since the summer. And although I can bring somebody in, maybe it will make us a little bit better. But in the end, I would rather stick with what I have.”

Pitino made headlines recently after a loss to Kentucky in which he admitted that the lack of a big-time point guard was “our fault in recruiting.”
