One of the biggest stars to take the field during the 2026 World Cup is Erling Haaland.
The 25-year-old Norwegian striker has been world-class with Manchester City over the past several years, and finally gets to showcase his abilities on the world’s biggest international stage.
Because Norway isn’t a powerhouse when it comes to soccer, this is the first time that Haaland has been able to compete in a World Cup. And he wasted no time making his mark, as shown by the two goals he scored in Norway’s first group stage game against Iraq.
Haaland isn’t shy about sharing his personal life with the world. He has been dating Isabel Haugseng Johansen since 2021, and the couple welcomed a son into the world in December of 2024.
While Haaland and Haugseng are still going strong, and she has been with him throughout this current World Cup run.
That’s why a comment that Haaland made during a recent video he did with British social media personality KSI is sure to raise eyebrows.
KSI published a June 20 YouTube video where he Haaland are presented with multiple celebrity lookalikes. The goal was to rate whether these lookalikes actually looked like their celebrity doppelgänger’s on a scale from one to 10.
At one point, a Marilyn Monroe lookalike showed up. While KSI knew who this was supposed to be, Haaland said, “I thought it was Sweeney at first.”
KSI then confirmed he was referring to Sydney Sweeney, to which Haaland said, “I was thinking of her!”
While this was a harmless comment from Haaland, the fact that he confused American A-list actress Sydney Sweeney with the iconic Marilyn Monroe is hilarious.
