The No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2027, Elijah Haven, committed Saturday to Alabama, giving the Crimson Tide a major recruiting boost.
“I will be going to the University of Alabama,” Haven said on his Instagram, where he announced his commitment. “Roll Tide, man. Roll Tide. Wake up. Wake up.”
Georgia was the other finalist in Haven’s recruitment, with Auburn and Florida also in his top four, per Rivals.
He’s the second 2027 quarterback to commit to Alabama, with four-star Trent Seaborn also pledged to the school.
“It is a great school with great coaches,” Haven said, per Touchdown Alabama Magazine. “Me and my family think the world of the coaches, so just thankful for them recruiting me. Coach Nick Sheridan [Alabama’s former QB coach] is gone to Michigan State; he has gotten a great opportunity there, but coach [Bryan] Ellis has stepped in, and we feel the same love.”
Haven, who attended Dunham High School in Baton Rouge, is rated the second overall player in the Class of 2027 and the top player in the state of Louisiana by 247Sports.
He led Dunham to a state title in 2025, and measures 6-foot-4, 220 pounds.
“Supersized quarterback that is going to have a chance to be the face of the franchise with his tools,” 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote last December in an evaluation of Haven. “… Projects as a multi-year starter for a College Football Playoff hopeful with the physical gifts and attitude that everyone covets.”
Haven is the second consensus five-star quarterback to commit to Alabama under coach Kalen DeBoer with Keelon Russell — their potential starter next year — being the other.
Russell is likely to replace Ty Simpson, and he showed out in Alabama’s spring game by throwing for 240 yards and four touchdowns.
