Texas, the top-ranked team in the country, is starting a quarterback, Arch Manning, with two career starts.

Notre Dame, ranked sixth, is on to its sixth starter under center in as many years.

Contenders Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, Miami and Michigan all have new starting quarterbacks and reigning Big Ten champion Oregon hasn’t even named its No. 1 signal-caller yet.

A majority of the nation’s premier teams have question marks at quarterback.
