Chrysler is recalling more than 72,000 Ram pickup trucks in the US over an issue with the instrument panel cluster that could increase the risk of a crash, auto regulators said Thursday.

The recall includes certain 2025-2026 Ram 1500 Pickup, Ram 2500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Pickup, Ram 3500 Cab Chassis, 4500 Ram Cab Chassis and Ram 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Chrysler said it estimates about 1% of the 72,509 recalled vehicles — or approximately 725 cars — have the defect.

Vehicles with this default fail to comply with regulatory requirements that shift position be displayed to the driver, as well as standards that require indicator lights to flash when there is a brake system malfunction.

Defective instrument panels that fail to show gear selection or a brake malfunction warning increase the risk of a crash, the NHTSA warned.

Drivers should bring their vehicles to a Chrysler dealership, where the instrument panel software will be updated or replaced, free of charge, according to the automaker.

Notification letters are expected to be mailed to owners by Jan. 8, 2026.
