Chase Claypool is giving it another crack at the NFL.

Claypool, who has not played an NFL snap since January 2024, is participating in the Packers’ rookie minicamp on a tryout basis to try to get back into the league.

The tryout camp, which lasts two days, is the 27-year-old’s first shot to make an impression with an NFL team.

“He’s had some great film out there,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters after practice, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “He’s been productive and he looks like he’s in great shape. And he’s big. We’ll see how it goes.”

Claypool found himself out of the league for the 2025 season after being released by the Bills a year prior due to a toe injury during training camp.

In July 2025, Claypool announced his intentions to make an NFL comeback in a post on social media.

“I tore a ligament and a tendon in my second toe and have been rehabbing, working out, and recovering every day for the past year,” Claypool said on Instagram. “I am back to being the strongest and fastest I’ve ever been and couldn’t be more excited to step back out on the field and let my actions speak for themselves.

“I deeply and truly believe that the pieces will align, and I will work my way into the position to show off what’s been suppressed these last two years.”

Following a standout college career at Notre Dame, Claypool was selected by the Steelers in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft and spent parts of his first three professional seasons in Pittsburgh.

Claypool immediately made an impact on the Steelers in his rookie season, racking up 873 receiving yards and nine touchdowns on 62 receptions.

He slightly regressed during the following seasons, however, before being traded to the Bears midway through the 2022 season.

Less than a year later, the Bears sent Claypool off to the Dolphins early in 2023.
