Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman has been suspended for a hit he put on a Cowboys receiver on Sunday.

The NFL announced Monday it’s barred the Los Angeles defender for the next two games after he forcibly struck Ryan Flournoy in the head during the first half of the Chargers’ 34-17 win at AT&T Stadium.

Flournoy was on the ground after catching a Dak Prescott pass when Perryman launched himself into the receiver. Perryman was flagged for the tackle, while Flournoy was forced to the leave the game with injury.

The league said Perryman’s “past violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players” were taken into consideration when determining its punishment.

The 33-year-old Pro Bowler will appeal, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported.

Perryman was previously suspended three games by the NFL in November 2023, when he was a member of the Texans.

A helmet-to-helmet blow to Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase sparked that penalty.

“When players violate the rules intended to protect player safety on a repeated basis, and particularly when the violations carry with them a significant risk of injury to an opposing player, it is appropriate to impose substantially greater penalties,” NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan wrote in a letter to Perryman at the time.

Perryman — a second-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft — is in the middle of his second stint with the Chargers after playing for the team from ’15 through 2020. He’s logged 47 combined tackles in 10 starts this season.
