That’s the best way to describe what went down on Tuesday as reports surfaced that Bill Belichick will not be a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Fame entrant.

Embarrassed.

That’s the best way to describe the state of the 50 voters on the selection committee, whether they checked the box for Belichick or not, because even if they did they’re associated with those who didn’t.
