MIAMI — Kahleah Copper sat with her Rose teammates in the locker room Thursday after Unrivaled practice and discussed hypotheticals.

  • Which WNBA team would most likely break up?
  • Which star might be on the move? And who would be staying put?
  • Which players would go well together?
  • What are individual players looking to get out of free agency?

Answers to all those questions remain on hold indefinitely as the WNBA and Women’s National Basketball Players’ Association continue negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement.

The extension of the current CBA is set to expire just before the clock strikes midnight Saturday. WNBPA vice president Breanna Stewart said a third extension isn’t in the works, though the two sides plan to negotiate in good faith to get a deal done.

The potential for a condensed offseason is becoming more realistic by the day, especially considering neither side wants to delay the start of the 2026 season.
