Griffin Canning reportedly has options as he attempts a comeback from a devastating injury.

The right-handed pitcher, who spent the 2025 season with the Mets, has received interest from several teams, including the White Sox, according to The Athletic.

Canning, 29, suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon after he crumbled to the ground in discomfort during the Mets’ June 26 game against the Braves at Citi Field.

He was helped off the field by the Mets’ training staff and skipper Carlos Mendoza, who later said Canning’s recovery would take at least nine months.

After undergoing season-ending surgery, Canning said he’d research the injury and reach out to several NBA players, including Klay Thompson and Jayson Tatum, about the recovery process.

“It sucks. Obviously, I want to and wanted to be out there with the guys, but I just love baseball, so I think that’s probably the worst part, is I just don’t get to play for a while,” Canning said. “I think I’ll be doing some research and reading up on all the basketball players and stuff that have had this so, yeah, figure out what to do.”

Before the injury, Canning was in the midst of arguably his best extended run in the majors.

Through 16 starts, Canning sported a 7-3 record with a 3.77 ERA, inflated by a pair of rough outings in early June.

After tweaking his pitch mix on the advice of the Mets’ staff, he found success keeping the ball on the ground, posting a career-best 50.9 groundball percentage, per FanGraphs.

“It just shows their confidence in their ability to develop guys and they feel like they can bring them in and say the right things,” Canning told reporters about his time with the Mets. “The organization as a whole is confident in the information they can give guys and help get them right.”

Before joining the Mets, Canning spent six up-and-down years with the Angels, showing flashes of potential while also missing all of 2022 due to a nagging back injury.

He was traded to the Braves last offseason but was non-tendered shortly afterwards before signing with the Mets.

In 115 career games spanning six seasons, Canning owns a 4.65 ERA.

The Athletic noted that the White Sox expressed interest in Canning back in December, which proved to be a busy month for the organization.

Chicago signed Japanese slugger Munetaka Murakami, added veteran pitchers Sean Newcomb and Anthony Kay, and took a flier on former prized Mets prospect Jarred Kelenic.

White Sox manager Will Venable told reporters Wednesday that Newcomb, who has primarily been a reliever in recent seasons, would compete for a spot in the rotation. Kay also spent the bulk of his career as a starter, including in Japan, for the last few seasons.

A healthy Canning, if he can replicate his Mets success, would provide teams with solid middle-of-the-rotation depth.
