Wemby… out?

Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama ended his press conference with an awkward sign-off after losing to the Knicks, 94-90 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, as they won their first title in 53 years.

“Appreciate y’all,” he told reporters after the Saturday night loss. “See you… never.”

The 22-year-old French phenom was held to just 19 points in 38 minutes in the final game of the season, closing out a series that was supposed to herald his arrival as the new face of the NBA, but instead invited close scrutiny of his play.

Wembanyama accumulated three flagrant foul points in the postseason, one short of an automatic suspension — though not for lack of trying, as he had several questionable plays overlooked by officials and the league.

Still, Wembanyama, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft, added an NBA Defensive Player of the Year award to his trophy case this season, not to mention All-NBA First Team and All-Defensive First-Team honors and his second All-Star appearance in his third season Stateside.

noti.group’s front page on June 14, 2026: “CHAMPS!”

In his third straight season leading the league in blocks at 3.1 per game, he finished third in MVP voting.

The year ending on a sour note only adds more fuel to the fire for the 7-foot-4 unicorn and his Spurs teammates.

“This has been a hell of a year in terms of experience,” he said. “I don’t think we could have learned more and gained more experience in one player, in one season, in one person, in 18 months.

“It’s been hard and full of lessons.”
