NAPA, Calif. — Just as it is in the NFL every summer for all 32 teams, no one ever really knows the true value of a training camp until the real competition begins.

The same applies for the training camp U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley has conducted for the 10 players from his team this week in the Procore Championship at the Silverado Resort.

The purpose of this trip was a no-brainer — especially when you consider that only two of the 12 U.S. players on the 2023 Ryder Cup team bothered to play in a tournament in advance of the matches in Rome, which ended in a lopsided loss to Europe.

Not surprisingly, the rusty Americans lost the first session, 4-0, and trailed 6 ½ to 1 ½ after the first day to the Europeans, 11 of whom played at least one tournament in advance of that Ryder Cup.
