Tommy DeVito can afford all the cutlets he desires.

The ex-Giants quarterback signed a two-year, $7.4 million extension with the Patriots that includes $2 million in guarantees, according to ESPN.

DeVito just completed his first season in New England backing up Drake Maye and Joshua Dobbs. He did not appear in a game during the team’s run to the Super Bowl.

The New Jersey native, known as “Tommy Cutlets,” appears to have comfortably — especially financially — settled into his life as a backup quarterback.

DeVito appeared in 12 games and made eight starts for the Giants across the 2023 and 2024 seasons, which ironically played a role in why the Patriots landed Maye.

The former Syracuse and Illinois quarterback led the Giants to a 3-3 record in his starts in 2023, including a win over New England, which factored into why Big Blue owned the sixth pick — used to select Malik Nabers — and the Patriots possessed the No. 3 selection — used to draft Maye.

DeVito only started two games and appeared in three contests in the 2024 campaign, and the Giants waived him prior to the 2025 season since they had three other quarterbacks on the roster in first-round pick Jaxson Dart and veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston.

The Patriots claimed DeVito on waivers, ending his run with his hometown team.

“My journey with the New York Giants was more than football — it was about family, community, and a dream come true for a Jersey kid,” DeVito wrote on Instagram at the time. “I’ll forever be grateful to the organization and fans who welcomed me with open arms. New York will always be home.

DeVito noted the difference this year in how he’s viewed in Foxborough, Mass.

“I’m looked at as Tommy DeVito the football player and not ‘Tommy Cutlets,’ the at-home Italian kid down the street,” DeVito said during Super Bowl media week. “I think it was good for me. It was good for everything outside of me — family. It couldn’t happen at a better place.”

DeVito then wore quite the outfit to Super Bowl 2026 — an ensemble that made him look like a grizzly bear — before watching while the Seahawks bested his teammates, 29-13.

With Dobbs under contract for 2026, it seems DeVito will yet again be third-string in New England in 2026.
