Thousands of pounds of coffee have been recalled across 15 states after bags of ground java were incorrectly labeled as “decaf.”

The Food and Drug Administration declared the recall a Class II on Monday, calling to withdraw 692 cases of 12 oz bags of Our Family Foods City Cherry Decaf Coffee.

The affected products were sold in Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota and North Carolina, in addition to North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

The FDA defines a class II recall as “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

The withdrawn product has decaf stated on the front of the package, with UPC 0-70253-11080 with Best Use By Date 08/03/2025 listed.

The recall was initially announced on March 13. “This withdrawal does NOT apply to any other Our Family Coffee products or product sizes,” Our Family Foods website says.

Customers may return the item to the store for a refund or replacement.

“We are committed to your health and safety, and we follow best practices to ensure the quality and safety of the products we sell. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” Our Family Foods website states.
