The first full Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer has finally landed, and it looks like Nintendo and Illumination are doing it big for their next animated feature.

Though there are a few shots of the Mushroom Kingdom and a very miniscule Bowser (Jack Black) imprisoned in a tiny castle, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’s new trailer has everyone looking up to the sky as Mario (Chris Pratt), Luigi (Charlie Day), Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) and Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) venture off into space. That’s where the group encounters a vengeful Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie) who’s ready to wage war and free his father using a magic paintbrush that can transform things into metallic versions of themselves. The young villain’s arsenal of weapons makes it seem like Mario and his crew might be outgunned for a while. But the heroes will have Princess Rosalina (Brie Larson) — who looks like she’ll end up being a heavy hitter — on their side.

The trailer leans heavily into the action set pieces team Mario will find themselves at the center of as they hop from planet to planet looking for a way to stop their new foe. Curiously, Yoshi doesn’t make an appearance here. But given the last film’s post credits sequence, we can probably expect to see the shoe-wearing dinosaur as we get closer to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’s April 3rd, 2026 premiere date.
