Tensions are hot in Game 4 of the NBA Finals.

During the first quarter of Wednesday’s contest, the Knicks and Spurs got into a heated moment as Mitchell Robinson threw an elbow at Victor Wembanyama during a New York offensive possession.

Robinson, originally called for an offensive foul, was also given a flagrant 1 on a review by the officials.

Fans were furious with the referees during that moment and afterward, as it appears the officiating lost control of Game 1 from the opening tip-off.

This tense moment had basically been brewing since Game 3, as Spurs center Victor Wembanyama shoved Jalen Brunson in the back of the head during the first quarter in what was a missed foul call by the referees.

The NBA head of officiating even acknowledged as much, but Wembyanama was not assessed a flagrant foul after the fact, despite it being a dirty play in the eyes of many, including Knicks guard Jose Alvarado.

Alvarado told noti.group’s Zach Braziller that there would be no more of that going forward.

“I think that’s not basketball,” Alvarado said on Tuesday. “That’s something that they gotta look at. But he got away with one. That’ll be the last one.”

The Knicks were at the center of multiple controversial calls — and non-calls — in the first quarter, including two fouls in the early minutes against Karl-Anthony Towns.
