A suspect was arrested in connection with the shooting of Missouri star running back Ahmad Hardy earlier this week.

Rashodrick Harris of Mississippi was taken into custody Thursday night in Paducah, Ky., and was awaiting extradition, Sgt. Macon Davis of the Laurel Police Department told The Associated Press.

Harris, 20, is set to be charged with two counts of aggravated assault, with Davis noting that the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are still possible.

Harris will be charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

Three other people of interest were taken into custody but have since been released with no charges.

Laurel police were able to utilize security footage to identify Harris as a suspect, with an arrest warrant being issued following a witness interview.

Hardy, an All-American RB for the Tigers, was shot in the upper leg on Sunday while attending a concert at a biker club in Laurel.

He underwent surgery in Mississippi and returned to Columbia, Mo., on Wednesday.

“Ahmad is deeply loved by his teammates, coaches, friends, family and fans,” a statement by the football program read.

“We will continue to stand beside him and his family through this difficult time, offering our love, prayers, strength and support. A timeline for his return to football activities is unknown at this time. Mizzou Athletics will provide more information on his status when it becomes available.”

According to Missouri coach Eliah Drinkwitz, Hardy’s status for this upcoming season remains uncertain.

Hardy led the SEC with 1,649 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns in 13 games last season, helping lead the Tigers to an 8-5 record with a loss to Virginia in the Gator Bowl.

He was a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, which is given to the best running back in college football.

An incoming junior, several NFL mock drafts have already listed Hardy as the No. 1 running back come next April.
