Trying to understand the psyche of Jets fans is not easy. There are scars … lots and lots of scars, and it makes them an interesting bunch.

But there is one phenomenon I can’t quite understand. Every once in a while, a segment of the fan base — I won’t say all fans — turns on one of its young players. I don’t know if it is out of boredom, frustration or the need for a villain, but it happens.

Breece Hall is that guy right now for some of the fans. There are those who want the Jets to trade him. There are some who are dissecting runs in the first preseason game and acting like they can draw some kind of conclusion about him as a player from it. There is a clamoring for Braelon Allen to be the lead back.

I’m here to say: Stop It. Please shut up (at least I said please).
