The hero of St. John’s run to the Sweet 16 is headed elsewhere for his final year of eligibility.
Dylan Darling has entered the transfer portal, a source said, hours after the Johnnies landed a verbal commitment from top international point guard Quinn Ellis.
The 6-foot-1 Darling, an Idaho State transfer, hit one of the biggest shots in Red Storm history when he beat the buzzer to eliminate Kansas in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The tough and gritty Darling became a key part to the Johnnies after a slow start to the year. He came up big in several clutch moments, and was given the nickname “church bells” after coach Rick Pitino joked he had “balls the size of church bells.”
