The Post carried a story this week about a McDonald’s in Queens that was daily besieged by out-of-control public high school kids. Employees and management lamented the extreme level of misconduct and disrespect that regularly created an after-school hell.

Hmm. Queens. High school kids. Then I remembered:

Years ago, I was asked to participate in a discussion on NYC Public Radio about the current social condition of local kids. The session quickly became a debate, as I could not suffer the position of the other guest, an NYC Board of Education sociologist of some titular rank.

This fellow claimed that today’s kids are no different from when he was a kid, and we should save our concern for other matters as kids will “grow out of it.”
