Cole Eiserman was standing in the bowels of Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, hoping that the next time he visits the building, there will be fewer people cheering for him.

The crowd was something like 50/50 between Boston University and Cornell for a game the Terriers eventually won, 2-1. It was united as one, though, when a familiar whistle went up, ending with a chorus of “Potvin sucks!”

Eiserman, a sophomore winger, is too young to know much about Ulf Nilsson, but there is every chance the next time he plays on Garden ice, it will be as a member of the visiting Islanders.

“I make jokes with the guys all the time about the Herb Brooks stuff. Stuff like that you’re born to be a hockey player, and I take that to heart,” Eiserman said after his formal press conference had finished. “I think I was put on this earth to be a hockey player. Be in the big lights, be in the moment. It’s kinda what I want to do.”
