Sometimes you just have to turn the laptop over to the people. Mets fans responded in droves to my Friday column imploring Steve Cohen to do something (and that included Cohen, apparently, who approved the termination of Carlos Mendoza a few hours later).
He wasn’t alone. Here’s a sampling:
Phil MacDonald: “Blame David Stearns & Steve Cohen. I never understand why GMs bring in players with injury histories and the Mets brought in many. … Jorge Polanco, Luis Robert [Jr.], Marcus Semien and Bo Bichette all have had stints on the DL the last few years. And on top of that, they are asked to play new positions.”
Bill Quigley: “We should forget chanting Pete [Alonso] and start with, ‘Let’s fire Stearns.’ Instead of our beloved ‘Let’s go, Mets!’ ”
