A highly popular dog food blend has been voluntarily recalled for a risk of containing loose metal.

The product in question is the 44-pound-sized bags of Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food that were sold at Walmart, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

There were 315 bags impacted in four states: Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.

The impacted bags had a best-by date of March 4, 2025. Their lot code — located on the bottom back of the bag near its bar code — is 410B2TXT02.

The recalled dog food was sold in 176 stores, according to CBS News.

“The potential presence of loose metal pieces in the bag could pose a health hazard to pets,” the FDA said in a statement.

“If you believe your pet has consumed the affected product, you should monitor for unusual behavior and contact a veterinarian in the event of any concerns.”

The governmental agency noted that there were no reports of injury or illness to any pets at the time of the recall.

Recently, a significant bread recall took place after the remains of a dead rat were found in loaves in Tokyo, Japan.

Planters also faced a recent nut recall over listeria concerns for products produced and distributed last month.
