It’s a two-horse race for the No. 2 pick.

Barring a trade, the Jets are choosing between a pair of pass rushers with their first selection during Thursday’s NFL draft festivities: Ohio State’s Arvell Reese and Texas Tech’s David Bailey.

With Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza all but assured to go No. 1 to the Las Vegas Raiders, Reese and Bailey have flip-flopped as the favorites to go second overall countless times in recent days.

As of Thursday morning, Bailey is an ever-so-slight -135 favorite at FanDuel Sportsbook to be the selection when the Jets’ turn comes up.

Reese having his name called by Gang Green at No. 2 wouldn’t be a shocker, though, with the former Buckeye owning +105 odds.

There’s also the possibility of the Jets moving back in the draft, which noti.group’s Brian Costello has previously posited, including a projection of the team moving from No. 2 to No. 4, although he still believes there’s a chance Reese will still be available at that later slot.

Reese has been seen as the most likely player to be the second off the board throughout the draft process, but ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr., Peter Schrager, and The Ringer’s Todd McShay, among others, have projected Bailey to be selected No. 2 overall, sending the betting market into a tizzy.

With their second first-round pick at No. 16, it appears likely the Jets will go with a wide receiver, although oddsmakers are split on who, exactly, that player will be.

Betting on the NFL?

Jets general manager Darren Mougey didn’t give away much during his final comments before the draft Tuesday, but did indicate he was a fan of the pass rushers that will have their name called this week.

“[I] feel good about this draft class,” Mougey said. “With the edge group, I think there’s different flavors, different styles that do things in different ways. But it is a pretty good group.”
