The Cubs return to Wrigley Field for a key Game 3 against the Brewers on Wednesday.

Chicago will send right-hander Jameson Taillon to the mound after he helped the Cubs escape the wild-card round with a solid start in the decisive Game 3 against the Padres.

The veteran has been excellent against the Brewers since coming to Chicago before the 2023 season, posting a 3.09 ERA over 10 games (nine starts).

But he’s had an impossible time over his nine-year big league career with two of the toughest bats in Milwaukee’s lineup: Christian Yelich and Jackson Chourio.

Yelich and Taillon have a long history, facing each other 41 times during their time in the majors.

The former has come out on top more often than not, dominating Taillon perhaps more than he has any other pitcher over the years.

Yelich has hit .351/.415/.541 with two home runs and a double off of Taillon.

In much fewer plate appearances, Chourio has been just as strong against him, going 7-for-13 with a long ball and two doubles.

Both hitters come into the game hot.

Yelich has gone 4-for-8 through the first two games of the series, a pair of Cubs wins.

Chourio has been even better.

The young outfielder is 5-for-7 in the series with a home run and a double.

With the plus-matchup, let’s see if the pair can have another big game Wednesday at Wrigley Field while the Brewers look to sweep their NL Central rivals and return to the NLCS.

The play: Christian Yelich Over 1.5 total bases (+160, bet365) | Jackson Chourio Over 1.5 total bases (+120, DraftKings)
