A staggering third of the NBA is tanking this season, with double-digit teams desperately hoping to leverage lottery luck into a franchise-changing star.

And none is more desperate for change or needs a star more than the Nets.

No, the Nets are far from the only team tanking, with so many that NBA commissioner Adam Silver has vowed rule changes to stamp out the practice. But none of the 10 or so teams playing the percentages need a young star more than talent-starved Brooklyn, including the Pacers and Wizards, who they’re chasing.

They infamously haven’t produced a single homegrown All-Star since Brook Lopez in 2013, over a decade ago.
