Well, the New York Football Giants have succeeded in something as they strengthened their inexorable attraction to failure.

The team that specializes in losing at least could feel good about selecting, developing and putting on display their franchise quarterback. That was to be the light within this dark, dank and dreary tunnel.

Yet after what we witnessed on another Sorry Sunday, you have to wonder if there is unwavering belief in Jaxson Dart, given how untrusting interim head coach Mike Kafka was with the way he unveiled a run-heavy, conservative and — let’s come right out and say it — hold-your-breath-and-hope offensive game plan.

That the Giants were beaten 16-13 by the Vikings is almost an afterthought compared with the way Dart was relegated to hand-off status. He threw just five passes in the first half (completing one for 2 yards). He finished up with seven completions on 13 passes for 33 yards. The Giants’ net passing total was 13 yards. That is not NFL-caliber, and Dart sneered a bit after he was asked if he ever had such feeble passing numbers in his life for one game.
