Mike Francesa was unable to do his Bet Rivers podcast Wednesday night while the Yankees were eliminated by the Blue Jays in the ALDS as he was undergoing “emergency gallbladder surgery,” according to the gambling company.
“Thankfully, everything went perfectly. We will hear from Mike tomorrow,” Bet Rivers’ X account posted Wednesday night to update fans clamoring to get into his Yankees’ watch party on YouTube.
The longtime WFAN host, 71, is famous for his takedowns of New York teams after disappointing seasons.
The Yankees would certainly fit that bill after seeing their season end with a 5-2 loss to Toronto.
Their AL East rivals used eight relievers to shut down the highly paid pinstripe lineup.
“Losing isn’t what the Yankees always do, but let’s be honest, they’ve gotten pretty used to losing in the postseason because they haven’t left the postseason on a high note since 2009 and that’s a long time ago,” Francesa said after the Yankees dropped Game 2 of the ALDS, 13-7.
