Talk about a cold take.

Michael Irvin had egg on his face after he “guaranteed” Micah Parsons was not going to be traded by the Cowboys during an appearance on “NFL Live” on ESPN on Thursday, only for the edge rusher to be traded a short while later.

Parsons was traded to the Packers for two first-round picks — one in 2026 and one in 2027 — and three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark, and agreed to a new four-year, $188 million contract with Green Bay.

“You can report all you want, there’s no way they allow Micah Parsons to go anywhere,” Irvin said. “All of this is part of the negotiations and as I talked to Jerry [Jones] the other day on my podcast, and he was talking about it the other day. When he tried to make that offer, he said somebody told him to shove it up his rear. Honestly, it blew my mind that any kind of conversation like that would be going on in a situation like this.”

Irvin continued and ended the clip by doubling down on his “guarantee.”

“I guarantee Micah Parson is not going anywhere, Jerry is not that crazy. This is all what we call just negotiation stuff,” he said.

Rumors had been ramping up regarding moving Parsons to Green Bay in recent days.

The negotiations between the Cowboys and Parsons had not borne any fruit and Parsons had sat out all of training camp, requesting a trade on Aug. 1.

Jones, the Cowboys owner and general manager, told reporters after the trade that the deal was in the “best interest” of the team.

“We can win, in our minds, more than had we gone the other route and signed [Parsons],” Jones said.

Irvin released his full reaction to the trade on Thursday night in clip posted on X and a full video on his YouTube channel.

He said that he was “in a state of shock” about the deal.

“This is exactly what I was scared and worried about,” he said in his reaction to the deal. “Right now, this isn’t about football. This was about personal emotions and it just got to a boiling point, where it was like, OK. … Boy, this hurts. This no doubt hurts.”
