ORLANDO, Fla. — Pete Alonso, the beloved all-time Mets home run hitter, was expected to drive over from his Tampa home to meet with the Red Sox, Orioles and other teams, as noti.group’s Mike Puma reported.

Meantime, in a juicy bit of intrigue, the Mets were checking on the Phillies’ coveted, All-Star home run hitter Kyle Schwarber.

These questions now must be asked: Could we possibly see a superstar shake-up? Could the Mets be left without the power hitter they need?

The Mets should be pleased that two of baseball’s best boppers remain on the board. However, it’s also a near necessity they come away with one of the two.
