Los Angeles is finally getting a Hall of Fame.

Officials at the LA Sports Council told The California Post this week a first-of-its-kind museum honoring City of Angels legends will be coming in 2027.

Stunningly, the city has never had a Hall of Fame, something President and CEO of Los Angeles Sports Council Matt Cacciato and Chairman of the Board for the Los Angeles Sports Council Dave Klewan have been working on changing for a while.

In February 2019, Dave Klewan was elected Chairman of the LA Sports Council. Seven years later, the LA Sports Council announced that Los Angeles would be getting a Hall of Fame, with the first class set to be inducted in 2027. LA Sports Council

The two execs told The Post on Wednesday there have been plenty of conversations in the past about the creation of a Hall, and now one is officially on the way in a matter of months.

Not much is currently known about the about its specifics, such as how big the first class will be or who will be in charge of voting.

But Klewan said they at least have an idea for the inductees’ criteria, which namely includes the contributors’ impact on the Los Angeles sports scene.

Klewan said all types figures will be considered, including athletes like Matthew Stafford and LeBron James, who began their professional careers out of state, but still managed to come to LA and make an influence.

Speaking at the 20th Annual LA Sports Awards on Wednesday night at the USC Town and Gown Ballroom, President and CEO of Los Angeles Sports Council Matt Cacciato announced the creation of the first LA Sports Hall of Fame.

Cacciato said the museum will be unique in the sense that it’ll not only have a physical component, but a digital one as well.

“The idea is to be strategic,” he said, “and just learn from some of the lessons that Hall of Fames show us across the country.”
