Oregon’s mindset heading into its 2019 exhibition game against a loaded Team USA roster was to give it the Ducks’ best shot. The goal was to keep it within 20 points, though the final score was an afterthought.
Just play, and live with the results.
The outcome of that game, though, was historic. Oregon, headlined by Sabrina Ionescu, Satou Sabally and Ruthy Hubard, slayed the giant that is Team USA, pulling off an upset for the ages.
The Ducks, the undisputed No. 1 team in the country, became only the second college program to beat Team USA — and first since the late Tennessee coach Pat Summitt’s squad in 1999.
