Lane Kiffin should do the right thing.

He can tell his six assistant coaches to stick with sixth-seeded Ole Miss through the rest of the College Football Playoff, or he can emulate how poorly he handled his controversial move to LSU and really entrench himself as college football’s top villain.

He has the power — he will be their boss once those coaches join him at LSU. Offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr., tight ends coach/co-offensive coordinator Joe Cox, wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator George McDonald and running backs coach Kevin Smith have reportedly signed contracts to follow Kiffin. Senior analyst/pass game specialist Dane Stevens and graduate assistant Sawyer Jordan are expected to leave for LSU as well.

There is uncertainty about what will happen now that the Rebels are in the semifinals following their upset of No. 3 Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day. In an ironic twist, Ole Miss’ win actually netted Kiffin $500,000 from LSU based on the terms of his contract if the Rebels reached the semifinals.
