It was certainly a gutsy decision for a seventh-round pick.

Korie Black, whom the Giants drafted with the No. 246 pick in April, bolted for the Jets practice squad instead of returning to the Giants after being cut.

Black originally made the 53-man Giants roster, then was cut, but with the intention of bringing him back.

The Giants cut Black to make room to sign Rico Payton off waivers, planning on bringing Black back — as a special-teamer and depth option at cornerback — once they placed Payton on injured reserve.
