There was a second spitter.

No, it was not Roger McDowell, but the Cowboys-Eagles saliva drama took another twist when NBC replays showed — after a lengthy severe weather delay — that Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott appeared to spit in the general direction of Jalen Carter during the first quarter on Thursday night.

Prescott, standing in the offensive huddle a few yards away, then smiled at Carter, who then approached the signal-caller and spat on him.

The Eagles defensive lineman was ejected from the ballgame while Prescott remained in.

Referee Shawn Smith explained to a pool reporter why Carter was tossed from the season opener just six minutes into the proceedings.

“One of the officials observed him spitting on an opponent,” Smith said. “It’s a disqualifiable foul in the game. It’s a non-football act.”

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported, citing two anonymous sources, that while Prescott spat in the “general vicinity of the Eagles defensive huddle” and that Carter found it to be “hostile,” though the QB tried to explain that he didn’t intend it to be that way.

Carter then spat at Prescott, leading to his ejection.
