One of the premier players reportedly available this offseason will soon learn his fate.

Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen said the organization will expedite a decision on whether or not to trade All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte, whose name has been floated all offseason.

“We’re very likely to put an end to this shortly,” Hazen told MLB.com on Tuesday without specifying a timeline.

“But this isn’t going to continue to linger,” Hazen added. “We need to focus our offseason. Again, my gut this whole time was that [a trade of Marte] wasn’t going to happen, and I think it seems likely that that’s the case and we want to focus on other things we need to do.”

Marte, 32, is coming off a strong 2025 when he slashed .283/.376/.517 with 28 home runs and 72 RBIs across 126 games, en route to his second straight Silver Slugger Award.

The three-time All-Star has cemented himself as one of the league’s best at the keystone and comes with an affordable contract.

Marte has five years and $91 million — along with an $11.5 million player option for the 2031 season — remaining on the extension that he inked with Arizona back in April.

The Red Sox, who have expressed interest in re-signing Alex Bregman and explored signing Blue Jays star Bo Bichette, were linked to Marte earlier this month.

The switch-hitter also reportedly has five teams listed in his partial no-trade clause, including the Yankees.

Nevertheless, if the Diamondbacks do not deal Marte by the 10th day of the 2026 season, he will obtain 10-and-5 rights (10 years in the majors, five with the same team), thus granting him a full no-trade clause.

While deciding on Marte’s future in the desert, Arizona also has been linked to Bregman, who re-entered free agency after one season in Boston.

The Diamondbacks’ lone major signing of the offseason has been re-signing pitcher Merrill Kelly to a two-year deal.
