Germany entered the 2026 World Cup as one of the favorites to win the entire tournament, given that it is among the most talented and balanced rosters in the world.
And if any fans doubted this, Germany proved its point with a dominant 7-1 win over Curaçao in the first group-stage match June 14, which this being the most goals a team has scored in a 2026 World Cup game to this point.
Germany should face a tougher test against the Ivory Coast on June 20. But its high-powered offense will still be on full display, including 27-year-old Arsenal forward Kai Havertz.
Havertz found the back of the net twice against Curaçao and appears to be in great form to this point in the tournament. And perhaps one reason he’s playing so well is because his relationship with his wife, Sophia, is so solid.
Kai and Sophia have known each other since childhood but began dating in 2018. The two then got engaged in 2023 and were married in 2024.
Sophia has become a celebrity in her own right, amassing over 500,000 followers on Instagram. And she satisfied her followers with a collage she posted June 18, which showed her on a recent trip at what appears to be a tropical location.
The post was captioned, “mi gente” and included several photos of Sophia in a bikini, including one in which she’s in a brown polka dot swimsuit and is posing on a boat while wearing a cowboy hat.
Given that Germany’s first game was in Houston and its match against the Ivory Coast is in Toronto, it appears that Sophia and Kai (who wasn’t seen in any of the photos) weren’t together during this trip.
But perhaps these photos were from a while back, and Sophia is there to support Kai in person during Germany’s World Cup run.
