“Daily Show” host Jon Stewart called out the cringeworthy spectacle of having Vice President Kamala Harris read out her own defeat to Present-elect Donald Trump in front of cheering Congress members.

“That’s gotta sting. She’s like, ‘Um, I can hear you.’ God damn,” Stewart said at the start of Monday’s show. “It’s like attending your own funeral and even the mourners are like, ‘Woohoo!’ I can’t imagine anything that would be more uncomfortable than standing there while the crowd applauds your opponent.”

Stewart also noted that Monday was the four-year anniversary of the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots.

“Of course, the ultimate indignity of this January 6 is that Donald Trump’s opponent Kamala Harris, because she was the vice president, serves as the master of ceremonies… Poor baby,” Stewart remarked.

Stewart then played a clip of Democrats in the House cheering and applauding Harris after she read out her own losing number of votes in the presidential election.

“That sounded louder!” Stewart said jokingly. “There’s a lot of joy in that room! I think she could still win this thing!”

After certifying Trump as the next president, Harris couldn’t help but take a swipe at her foe.

“Well, today was obviously a very important day and it was about what should be the norm and what the American people should be able to take for granted, which is that one of the most important pillars of our democracy is that there will be a peaceful transfer of power.”

Harris continued: “And today I did what I have done my entire career, which is take seriously the oath that I have taken many times to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, which included today performing my constitutional duties to ensure that the people of America, the voters of America, will have their votes counted, that those votes matter and that they will determine then the outcome of an election.”

Later, former Vice President Mike Pence praised Harris for the difficult job of presiding over the certification of her own defeat to Trump, calling her “particularly admirable.”
