The plan for the past four years was to have Tiger Woods become U.S. Ryder Cup captain. But that plan has been thwarted twice — by Woods, who has twice turned down the job.
So the PGA of America on Friday turned to the next-best option for 2027 in Ireland: Jim Furyk.
The 55-year-old Furyk, a 17-time PGA Tour winner, including the 2001 U.S. Open, will be captain for a second time when the Americans take on Europe in 2027 at Adare Manor.
Good for the PGA of America.
