How Yankees’ sleepy offseason measures up vs. AL East rivals

How would the Yankees’ offseason to date be judged if they were not members of the AL East?

Or how about if the rest of the division did not feature some of the most active teams in the market this winter?

Truth be told, there likely still would be plenty of consternation from the fan base about the Yankees’ lack of action, but it certainly has not helped them that the rest of the AL East has been busy making big signings and/or trades to gear up for another battle in 2026 — though they dodged a bullet on Thursday night when Kyle Tucker picked the Dodgers over the Blue Jays (and Mets) on a monster four-year, $240 million deal.

There are more to come, with plenty of big names still on the board with less than four weeks to go until pitchers and catchers report to spring training. And which team “wins” the offseason is not always the same one that wins in October.
